Stars Collide

If stars collide and I am here,

I really shouldn’t be here;

I should be up there

Somewhere–

To hear;

Hear the boom,

And the clack outside–

It’s something, isn’t it?

That sound when stars collide.

Because I’ve treaded down here,

Far too long, living on

This little speck;

Seeing through

This little microscope.

Seeing, feeling

Pain and misery,

The reeling is near:

For I hear a boom

When stars collide.

For they collide down here, too;

And the boom is still clear–

And it’s you and I, it’s you and I, my dear;

I wish instead it be stars–

Inanimate and braindead.

But it is you and I going head to head.

It’s just a tiny speck and a tiny passing moment–

This whole life.

Compared to those grand red giants.

Who would care, who would care,

Of us colliding down here.

But I think it incredible I am even aware at all,

Aware to know you and I both fall,

Into each other and by each other, lover.

Go outside, go outside,

Hear the stars collide.

Yes, it may seem silent,

But the impact is violent.

Colliding with you amongst words unsaid.

With the same silence, I burn red.
