List the people you admire and look to for advice…

WordPress.com, May 5th Prompt

I do love it when the WordPress daily prompt gets me inspired.

Of course, I could make a simple list; I do have those I seek as confidants. However, this prompt inspired another thought in me: how wisdom can be found in anyone.

I live with a sort of motto: seek wisdom from whichever source it flows forth from. The mailman, the bird in the tree, my mother, the pages of a mystic long departed. Now, it does not mean you have to take the entirety of the person with you. As Oasis said: “take what you need, and be on your way.”. In other words, don’t take the person with you—the backstory, the ego, and such things. For anyone at anytime can be a vehicle for wise words, admirable thoughts, and helpful ideas. It is judgement of who that person is that may keep you from the very words you need to hear—the very counsel you are yearning for when faced with life’s challenges.

We can indeed be advised by anyone, if we are willing to look past our prejudices, and open our ears to hear wisdom in whatever form it takes.
